Rooney Family Law is a specialist family law firm. Family law is the only area of law the firm practises, and every solicitor in the firm practises family law exclusively. Most solicitors hold one or more Law Society of Scotland specialist accreditations in family or child law, with the rest working towards them. The firm handles family law matters including separation, divorce, and disputes about children or finances.
It advises clients across Edinburgh, Musselburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian. The firm has an office in Edinburgh and another in Livingston, and acts in both Edinburgh Sheriff Court and the Court of Session. It does not offer Legal Aid. A free initial telephone call of approximately 10–15 minutes is available. Where hourly rates apply, the firm bills in 3-minute units.

I was looking for a flat fee divorce solution and came across Rooney Family Law on Google. My situation was straightforward but I worried about how complex the process might be. I started the divorce process in 2021, delighted to say I am now divorced and Rooney Family Law supported me through the legal process to make that happen. They were professional, supportive and responsive throughout and ensured my interests were covered.
I unfortunately got divorced in 2021 however Rooney Family law made the process simple, were responsive to emails and provided a set price for the work. I was lucky to have a simple, amicable divorce and all we needed was the paperwork. All went smoothly, apart from starting the process through the first lockdown in 2020 so this slowed things down considerably, not to the fault of the firm. Lynn Collum was my point of contact and was very helpful.
