I hired them in 2023 to deal with Disability Discrimination by Aberdeen University, who didn't understand Asperger or the Equality Act. I have Asperger. I have had career struggles all my life. I have 8000 remaining fee to pay. In February 2025, Gibson Kerr and I, made a written agreement, that I would pay off the bill in £50 a month installments. Since Last Summer last year, Gibsonkerr has broken the agreement, and are trying to drag me though the Sherriff court, to force me to cough up 8000, that I do not have. I have done nothing wrong. I have never refused to pay the bill. But I cannot afford to pay it in 1 lump sum. My brother is trying to get them to drop the bill, due to my career struggles and little income. I have an 11 year old daughter to support. The law firm has made next to 0 effort, to get the university to reimburse me legal fees, but they make a 1000% effort to squeeze me of every penny I have. I need my money back. If the university had respected my and the law in the 1st place, I would never had to hire a law firm. GibsonKerr are greedy, lazy and selfabosrbed. They are untrustworthy,. Do not trust them. I regret hiring them now. I am shocked and distressed by their selfish behaviour. Mr FW Hooton. A biochemist and theoretical biologist I'd have given 0 stars if I could. Correction. In response to the below, GibsonKerr did succesfully get me into Aberdeen University. And the 2 lawiers I worked with, during that, were great, and not money grabbers or lazy. The rest I wrote it true. if GibsonKerr deny it, they are liers.
I approached Gibson & Kerr when I wanted to adopt my ex partners soon. As we were no longer together this wasn’t an easy adoption. But from the first meeting with Brittany I was confident this could happen. All the way through the process I was kept up to date with what was going on. I would highly recommend Gibson & Kerr, and Brittany was amazing.
We instructed Gibson Kerr to help us buy our first property in Scotland. Elaine Bell was truly excellent in helping us understand the process of buying a home in Scotland, and Nikki Lemon managed the conveyancing process for us not only diligently but also swiftly. I would wholeheartedly recommend Gibson Kerr to anyone new to the Edinburgh property market!
Avoid Gibson and Kerr - Unprofessional and Overpriced We had an extremely disappointing experience with Gibson and Kerr. They charged us £576.40 for minimal work and failed to check whether they were on our lender’s panel - something any responsible solicitor should address during initial client contact. They also tried to charge us for submitting an offer, even though they had already done so for free. When we questioned this, their dismissive response was, “Well, we put an offer in already for free.” The following day, we checked with another solicitor who was happy to submit offers free of charge, which made us even more suspicious of Gibson and Kerr’s practices. Don’t be persuaded by the office’s impressive location - those light bills clearly need paying! We hope any future couple considering their services ensures they check the lender board first and requests a clear breakdown of fees. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend looking elsewhere for conveyancing services. Ultimately, we switched to Watermans, who were professional, transparent, and far more reliable. The reason this review is 2 stars and not 1 is because they were very efficient in chasing the payment and kindly offered us a bottle of water during our visit to their offices. We also strongly recommend reading the other low reviews for Gibson and Kerr, as many people have reported similar problems. We hope this review helps prevent someone else from making the same mistake.
I have just finished the sale of my late mother's property through Gibson Kerr and found them very helpful and sympathetic. It wasn't as easy to sell the house as my Mum thought, but it all concluded today, with especial help from Elaine Bell and Nikki Lemon in the property team. Our family have used Gibson Kerr for over 25 years and I would recommend them and their team to anyone.
I used Gibson Kerr for my first home purchase after they were recommended to me by a friend, and I have nothing but good things to say about the team. As a first time buyer I was especially anxious and the GIbson Kerr team helped me through every step of the way. making the whole process relatively painless. I was able to get my dream home after only 7 short weeks and I believe that is all thanks to the diligent care and work from all those at Gibson Kerr. I will happily recommend to anyone who asks
