What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

House purchases, sales and estate administration are the matters that feature most often in feedback for Hatch Brenner in Norwich, and the way those matters were handled is what customers return to. A point made in several accounts is the speed of replies, with questions answered promptly and instructions acted on without delay. Named members of staff are singled out again and again, among them Julie, Wendy, Dawn Parkes, Kay Eke, Janet, Sam, Simon Bransby and Colin, praised for being approachable, patient and considerate.

Families dealing with probate describe being talked through each stage with compassion, while a property dispute was handled in a composed and strategic manner even when the opposing side proved demanding. Conveyancing work, from an auction purchase completed to a tight deadline to a complicated sale and purchase dogged by delays outside the firm's control, is described as prompt and efficient, with costs on the more complex matter viewed as very reasonable.

Clients also note that updates arrived without chasing and that telephone calls and emails met with friendly, swift responses. One buyer welcomed being able to check every detail online at any hour instead of waiting for an office call back, and the same steadiness runs through the probate and dispute work.

Shocking help and support from this company mixed communications and unreliable service thanks to these solicitors I missed a case with for my daughter

I cannot recommend Janet and the team at Hatch Brenner highly enough. I recently found myself navigating a highly complex and incredibly stressful property dispute. Throughout the entire ordeal, Janet was an absolute rock. Her professionalism is unmatched. Even when dealing with a difficult and demanding opposing side, Janet completely refused to be drawn into unnecessary conflict. Instead, she maintained a calm, objective, and highly strategic approach that instantly brought my stress levels down. She navigated the legal complexities flawlessly, shielded me from the friction, and successfully secured a clean, final resolution for my property. If you need a solicitor who is legally sharp, completely unshakeable, and genuinely cares about keeping their client grounded during a tough time, Janet is exactly who you want in your corner.

I'm pleased with the service I recently received at Hatch Brenner and happy to recommend them. Sam was cheerful, friendly, approachable, patient and quickly answered my questions and efficiently acted on my instructions.

Went with them, turned up to the wrong court, had no idea about any ruling the judge made, forced to wait months longer ger and spent a huge amount more money despite the other party and I understanding correctly, when I questioned it I was told I needed therapy to continue and was threatened with legal action to pay the invoice for their professional negligence despite already being aware that I have disabilities, this caused me to attempt suicide and self harm of which I informed them and asked for an answer, contacted the supervisor who investigated it and told me they would respond with an update. Multiple emails to them and a year later I have been ignored. Avoid like the plague. They were aware of my mental health issues from the start and I informed them along the way of their mistakes and distress they caused to be threatened, abused and then when they realised they were wrong to then be ignored. I wish I had taken legal action against them when this all happened.

If Hatch Brenner are representating anyone in your chain proceed with major caution!! They did not respond to my solicitors for 8 weeks at the beginning of the process which delayed the whole chain and cost me additional money. They also delayed enquires, exchange and on day of completion after 1pm they decided to ask my solicitor for their bank details!! This delayed the whole chain further and cost me even more money!! They are completely useless and do not care about getting things completed in a timely manner. I would have pulled out if they hadn't drained me financially already!

What an incredible let down. Agreed to represent us on an auction property purchase involving international buyers, and then the day after the auction dropped us on the basis that funds held in an EU account are against their internal regulation. This is despite being asked questions at the time of quote as to where the money comes from. With an auction purchase and tight timescales for completion, they have left us in an incredibly difficult position. Extremely unprofessional and uncaring - don’t use

I used Hatch Brenner to sell and purchase a house last year and they were fantastic so when I needed additional work undertaken I had no hesitation in contacting them. However, the solicitor I had been dealing with had unfortunately left and I was given the name of another solicitor at the practice, Happy Khumbeni, who could undertake the work instead. I agreed, assuming the work would be of a similar standard. Unfortunately, I had nothing but issues at every single stage. I had to explain the work I wanted carried out on four separate occasions over a 2 month period, a month of which I had assumed the work had already begun because Happy hadn't contacted me to say he hadn't understood and had therefore been doing nothing. Every document that was sent to me to sign was incorrect, with one document having my date of birth, monies owed and the name of the person I was paying all incorrect. Another document had me listed as a witness rather than a deed owner. At every stage I had to go back and ask for corrections. On numerous occasions Happy had "lost" emails or documents that he later found. The level of attention to detail and the communication was poor at best. I had to constantly check for updates. My biggest concern was that these were legal documents and given their technicality, there may have been errors in the sections that I didn't understand. I wrote to the head of conveyancing of the practice, Sarah Finn, explaining all of these issues and how unprofessional I found the service. I was promised that this would be looked in to. This was on the 23rd May 2022 and I haven't heard anything since. Given that one of my complaints was that I had to keep chasing for an update, I feel that this is unbelievably unprofessional. I feel that once I had settled my balance (of which I didn't ask for a discount), they didn't care about my complaint. Hence this review. Avoid!!! Edit: I haven't received any correspondence from Hatch Brenner following my review, despite their reply below suggesting they've been in touch.
