What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Brighton clients of this firm repeatedly highlight conveyancing and property work as a particular strength, with several reviewers describing sales, purchases and Right to Buy transactions handled by named solicitors. Courtney Pearce is praised for patience, thoroughness and for making legal documents easier to understand, while Vicki Fletcher is described as responsive and proactive, notably in pursuing the other side's lawyer to keep a sale moving. Victoria Fletcher receives similar credit for guiding a first-time purchase, with Ruth Michaelson-Yeates also singled out for support.

A point made in several accounts is the quality of communication: clients mention being kept informed and updated daily through what they describe as stressful processes. Will-writing and estate planning also feature, with Rosie Smith commended for explaining clauses and technicalities clearly. A number of reviews mention a two-tier fee arrangement explained openly at the outset, and the professionalism of the wider team through tight deadlines. The practice emerges as one clients return to across successive transactions, with the personal and timely handling of each matter the detail that stands out most consistently.

What a horrible experience. “You will pay a bit more but you will get the service”, they said, well we did and we didn’t. Supposedly competent in dealing with ‘Lifetime Mortgages’ we went to this Firm for that reason. We should have realised how bad things were going to be, when the first batch of forms and paperwork were sent out to someone else in error. We then endured months of poor communication by inexperienced staff, and to be honest at times what felt like incompetence. The considerable stress of moving home was only compounded by this Firm. Never again!

We have used Burt, Brill and Carden for our last 3 house transactions and they have always been personal, timely and professional in their services. Compared with other solicitors in our chains they have always looked superior.

Emily Shearing was excellent - prompt, professional, flexible and very personable. She made every effort to help us understand the legal complexities.

I was represented by Courtney Pearce and I would highly recommend her for Right to buy property purchases as she was excellent. The purchase was quite long and she was extremely patient with me and the Council when retrieving the information from us and remained very professional throughout. She was very thorough with all the fine details and was great at explaining what documents meant or breaking down the legal language. Communication was always consistent and available with Courtney and she was always great at keeping me up to date with the process. Thank you so much Courtney I wish you the best of luck with your career I am a very satisfied client.

We sold our flat back to the council and a few firms were just not interested in acting for us. Burt Brill and Cardens had no issues, with a two tier fee system to cover any exceptional issues from the local authority explained up front and honestly. Vicki Fletcher was our lawyer and she smoothed the whole process. Always communicated well either directly or through her assistant Ruth. No real issues and we paid the lower tier fee. A great team and will certainly use B B and C again. Many thanks.

We had to complete in a very tight time schedule. Ruth & Victoria were brilliant. Excellent communication and everything was done well and quickly. They supported us through a stressful time, and we could not be more grateful.

BBC came highly recommended from various sources and they did not disappoint. Vicki,Ruth and the rest of the team were excellent with the selling of our house and the onward purchase. The whole process was stress free thanks to excellent communication and total professionalism from start to finish. We cannot thank them enough and would absolutely use the company for all our future legal needs. All I can do is keep recommending them to others as they were superb. Thank you all.
