I was extremely disappointed with Beeston Shenton and, in particular, with the handling of my matter by director Eleanor Adams. Over a lengthy period, I repeatedly raised the same important evidential and document issues in writing and supplied organised supporting material. In my experience, my instructions were not adequately followed and key documents were not reviewed or used as I reasonably expected. When I was eventually provided with a fuller set of records, I identified apparent material inconsistencies very quickly. This left me seriously concerned about why those matters had not been identified and addressed earlier by the professional team already holding the documents. Communication and file provision were also poor. I repeatedly requested important documents but received delayed, partial or unclear responses. I was told that technical problems were preventing the provision of a document bundle, but I did not consider the explanation satisfactory and no timely alternative arrangement was made. The firm then stopped acting before I considered the document handover complete, leaving me to obtain records and deal with urgent outstanding matters myself. Given Eleanor Adams’ senior position as a director, I expected a substantially better standard of document review, communication, accountability and client care. I have submitted a formal complaint. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend Beeston Shenton.

Will never go with these solicitors again. In fact they have put us off ever moving. There is no communication, I constantly had to ring up and email asking for updates, I’d receive no replies, told someone would get back to me and they wouldn’t so I’d have to chase up again. The fees said one thing and then they charged us way extra but because it was a phone call we were told the original price, we had no proof. I was constantly having to push them to actually do things. There was no chain involved yet nobody seemed like they could be bothered to do anything. I kept expressing the urgency in the end to move but once again, they weren’t bothered. Then finally a date was set. We had moving vans ready, things ready to be delivered, booked the day off work and were up early and loaded the car. We hadn’t heard from them though all morning so I ring up, they hadn’t even bothered to start the process that day. Our mortgage advisor wasn’t hopeful it was going to go ahead as the solicitors once again, hadn’t bothered to release the funds or whatever it is they do. We received no apology, nothing. I ended up in tears from the stress. Funnily enough though the solicitors were eager to take the money we owed them and the extra they had added on. A process that was meant to be exciting as it was out first house way nothing but stressful and ruined the whole experience. NEVER EVER use these solicitors.

When the senior solicitor/owner is incredibly unprofessional, that really is all you need to know about this company. They will happily send invoices for payment incredibly quickly but will not forward any information, sort out issues, or respond to emails / phone calls unless continuously chased.. and even then the responses are lackluster to say the least. The conveyancing department are just as bad and are not interested in anything you have to say. Please for your own sanity, do not use this company. We will be seeking advice from the legal ombudsman regarding this company and their incompetence which has now forced us to pay thousands more than quoted by other companies.

I had a very stressful and frustrating experience with Beeston Shenton Solicitors while purchasing my first home. From the beginning, the process was plagued with delays and poor communication. It took over a month for them to even begin progressing with my case due to system compatibility issues with the seller’s solicitors—something I was never informed about until the sellers themselves asked if the purchase was still going ahead. My case was then passed to another solicitor, who began asking for documents that had already been provided. On one day, I received emails from four different people, each claiming they were now handling my case. I was asked to email documents back, only to be told months later that they needed to be posted—without even being given an address until I followed up myself. I had to chase Beeston Shenton repeatedly, not only for my own updates but also on behalf of the seller’s solicitors, who were not receiving responses for weeks. My own emails were often ignored or met with one-line replies that offered no real help. Not once did any solicitor call me to explain the process or offer reassurance. Everything was handled via email, which made the experience feel cold and impersonal. Toward the end, I was told I needed to deposit £6,500 more than expected—an incredibly stressful surprise. After completion, I was then asked to pay an additional £130 for the Land Registry fee, even though I had already received a completion certificate. I followed up, but weeks later, I still haven’t received a response and am now worried about the status of my Land Registry. What should have been an exciting milestone turned into a five-month ordeal (with no chain on either side) due to their inefficiency and lack of professionalism. I would not recommend Beeston Shenton Solicitors to anyone looking for reliable, communicative, or supportive legal services.
