Just to be clear that Kerseys acted on behalf of the purchaser of my business not myself. We were selling a small independent convenience store. The sale should have been fairly straightforward as there were no major issues. Unfortunately, the process took just short of 2 years, mainly it has to be said, caused by the delays by Mehmet at the Ipswich office. He would communicate to my solicitor then completely ignore emails and calls from my solicitor, the agent handling the sale and even his own client for 2 - 3 weeks. He was supposed to organise a lease plan to be drawn up and after around 2 months, despite calls and emails and he still hadn’t done it, so the agent arranged it himself. This was one example of many. Now onto the disaster of completion day. Mehmet emailed my solicitor saying he was on holiday but if we had the stocktake completed in his absence then his colleague, Elliot, would help in completion. This figure was sent to Elliot on 13/05/26 at around 1pm. We heard nothing until the following morning. The email stated that he could not complete as the financial checks had not been done on the client and we would have to wait for Mehmet to return! My solicitor then replied that was unacceptable and financial checks should have been completed months ago. This finally completed on 22/05/26 and we had the hassle of doing a stock adjustment as we weren’t going to pay for another stocktake. I’m not going to blame Kerseys entirely as all the solicitors were a little slow at times but, in my opinion, Kerseys were the main reason for a sale taking nearly 2 years. The agent handling the sale was astonished it took so long and also laid the majority of the blame firmly at Mehmet’s door. These delays caused a lot of stress, worry and the initial estimate of my own legal bill to triple. Very poor.

Dealt with Edward Tomson who picked up at exchange time when another solicitors folded. he was professional and polite and brought home the exchange and completion on the original time line! We were so pleased not to loose the sale. He went over and above our expectations. Will use again in the future if required. Highly recommend to use for conveyancing. Thank you.
