What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Responsiveness and communication are the themes that emerge most strongly from accounts of this Derby law firm, and they run in both directions. Where matters are handled well, clients describe prompt replies, regular updates and a pragmatic approach that keeps transactions moving, with named solicitors such as Elliot and Ellie praised for combining efficiency with a friendly manner.

Several reviewers highlight conveyancing in particular, describing the simultaneous sale and purchase of properties as well managed from instruction onwards, while others point to the expertise of Sohil and Christian in court proceedings and the clear, honest guidance given by Michael Burgess, who is said to have answered questions frankly even when the answers were unwelcome. Kunal Parekh is likewise mentioned for the advice he provided. A recurring complaint, by contrast, concerns delays in answering correspondence, with difficulties reported in obtaining timely replies to queries raised by other solicitors involved in a transaction, and some describe the tone of responses as unhelpful.

Problems also arise in debt collection work, where recipients report continuing to receive letters despite repeated explanations that they are not the intended contact, and one account of a personal injury claim describes slow progress towards treatment. The pattern is of a practice whose clients value speed and courtesy when they are delivered, and notice keenly when they are not.

Somewhere between disappointing and average Recently used their conveyance skills to sell an empty property. It was a text book very easy sale with a 1st time buyer, but all along i was chasing them. You hear these kind of tales all the time when dealing with Solicitors and its true and it happened the entire 10 weeks i had to use them. The number of attention to details mistakes they made was staggering, i actually thought at one point they were doing it to catch me out, to make sure i read everything. My brother-in-law who lives in Australia (also a solicitor) found the anecdotes amazingly funny and also hard to believe from what happens in his firm, must be a British thing, slow, uncommunicative and error filled.

Our original buyer used this solicitors and mine got really quite frustrated with their lack of promptness in replying to emails and queries. I tried once to request directly very politely that they please reply to my solicitor with an update (as they'd been ignoring her for several days) and the Flint Bisbop person was extremely rude in response. The tone they used was totally unnecessary, unprofessional and the person at Flint Bishop could have chosen to be polite, even if their reply would have been the same. I wasn't trying to create a problem, but was anxiously awaiting a reply. After that incident, Flint Bishop seemed to delay everything from moving along for quite a while which caused significant anxiety. The sale eventually fell apart. For this reason I think it's important to let people know that it's worth choosing a different firm to move house with as I wouldn't recommend this firm, due to lack of contact to mine.

Lisa Wills at Flint Bishop took over my case from the disgraced PM Law and acted both promptly and efficiently. Communication excellent too. I can finally put this behind me thanks to Lisa. Top class service.

Having just used Jacqueline Bird to sell our home we can tell you that she has been nothing short of fantastic, as has Jade in getting our sale completed. Obviously we work within the housing market and deal with completions and moves every single day. And what we can tell you is that most people have horrific problems getting hold of their legals and getting the sale completed. Not us! Jacqueline and Jade have been amazing and we would not hesitate to recommend them both to our clients. Thank you both of you. David and Jane Bass

We had an excellent experience from start to finish. Olivia and Sarah were both professional, responsive, and incredibly supportive throughout our property purchase. They kept us informed at every stage, answered all our questions promptly, and made what could have been a stressful process feel smooth and straightforward. A big thank you to Olivia for her attention to detail and guidance, and to Sarah for her support along the way. We truly appreciated their hard work and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and professional conveyancing team. Ioannis & Iris

Do not touch with a barge pole! Gave 1 star only because I have to, but they deserve none! Personal injury in what should have been an open and shut case. Hit from behind at 30 mph, I was stationary, witnesses around and driver admitted liability. Easy right? It took 6 months to see an orthopaedic surgeon, treatment started a YEAR after the accident. 6 sessions of osteopathy in May/June 23. Maria Hanif, just before the last session, asked if I required more treatment to which I replied 'yes'. Chased her for 8 months asking when I was going to receive the treatment and I received responses ranging from 'no response' to 'we are still waiting for something'. In Feb 2024, Maria Hanif sent me an email telling me that she was waiting for my treatment to finish. I replied 'what treatment?' So to get more treatment, I had to go and see another orthopaedic surgeon to get assessed again because it was over 6 months since my last treatment (no fault of my own). The appointment with Mr Patrick Li was 5 months after this because Flint Bishop needed to get doctors/hospital records etc. Mr Li, who rudely told me a few minutes into the session that 'he only had 30 mins for the appointment, so I had to just answer his questions', decided that I looked fit and healthy (I'm a fitness instuctor...duh!), walked okay, that I was okay. The assessment was purely visual and he asked me to bend down, touch my toes, lean back and lean side to side all of which i can do because its my job. Then stated in his summary that because I had waited a year to get assessed that I was really okay. The year that i had been waiting on Flint Bishop. Flint Bishop refused to acknowledge their part in the delay and I refused the orthopaedic report as it makes me out to be a liar at best. Since then they have spent 2 years fighting with me, their client, and I have received no more treatment from them in 2 years. 4 years on from the accident (Jul 2022) and no resolution! Maria left/fired, I ended up with Jonathon Cox and now Jake Bland, all trainees and all useless. Now, I either have to accept their report (which makes me look like a liar), or get another of THEIR orthopaedic surgeons to assess me at my own cost of £504 (Not sure I trust another one to make the same report) or Find another solicitor to handle this case (none of whom will touch this case because its over 3 years old). I paid for my own treatment in the end at the Royal College of Osteopathy last year (Sep 25) and now I have regular treatments every 3 weeks to maintain myself as my hip injury will never completely heal and because of their delays, will never be adequately compensated. Flint Bishop are only interested in covering their own backs and not their clients. Seriously, if I didn't know better, I would say they were getting a backhander as no solicitors should treat their own client so badly. They may have been good for some people, but they have been awful for others. My advice, if your car insurance company give you Flint Bishop, ask them for a different one.

My boyfriend and I recently used Flint Bishop for the sale of one house and purchase of another. We were assigned Elliot and from the start we could tell he knew his stuff, he was prompt with responses/updates and was very pragmatic. Ellie assisted and was always a pleasure to deal with. Very friendly and professional. Thank you both, there is no doubt in our minds who we’ll come to if we need a solicitor in the future! Millie & Jack
